Knoxville Area Model Railroaders, Inc. provides a structured organization that promotes the art and craft of model railroading for its members and the public of East Tennessee. We accomplish this mission through the fellowship and charity of our members, who disseminate not only the skill, art, and craft of model railroading, but also the history and grandeur of the American railroad system. KAMR is incorporated as a non-profit organization with officers and a Board of Directors.
Membership is open to anyone with a serious interest in participating in the model railroad hobby in a shared environment and willingness to accept the by-laws and regulations of the club. Current membership includes individuals from all walks of life and ages from late 80’s to teens. Nominal annual dues are charged.
The club has entered into an agreement with the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge whereby, in exchange for our helping to renovate an unused wing of the museum and constructing and maintaining an HO scale model railroad layout for the museum, we are provided several rooms for club layouts and activities.
