WORLD OF TRAINS

The World of Trains has three major areas that museum visitors can enjoy. The first area is referred to as the “hands on area” where children can enjoy playing with toy trains and assembling their own layouts.

The second area is a combination diesel engine cab and the adjourning CMOR Railroad HO scale layout that the club built for the museum. The cab is the young engineer’s playhouse including control stand where one can activate simulated engine sounds, bell, and the horn. The cab is the leading section of a fully enclosed HO scale train layout. The layout enclosure represents a passenger car except that in this case the passengers are on the outside looking in at the passing trains and scenery. The train layout has three independent tracks that pass through varying scenes from mountains, rivers, and towns. The trains are activated by a motion detection system.

The third area is the outdoor display anchored by a Norfolk Southern caboose. Built around the base of the caboose is a fully landscaped three-track garden railroad.
